About Me

Books always, inevitably, make me sad. I read a lot of epic fantasy series; such as the Black Company, Malazan Book of the Fallen, and the Wheel of Time. You get to know these story worlds, the rules that govern them, and the societal customs. Then, the series ends and you're left wondering about that story world and what could still be happening there. I wanted a way to stay within those story worlds, and live service video games were the answer. In these games, you progress through the story, but there's no end as there is in a book series. Events continue to occur in the story world through regular content updates, expansions, or related titles. I love being a part of telling that world's story – not only initially but continually – and this is why I became involved in the video game industry.

I suppose I haven't taken the most conventional of education routes for a writer, given that I have a Masters in Animal Nutrition from the University of Minnesota. I feel this unconventional start to my video game writing career gives me unique insight that empowers my authorial voice, especially if there are animals in the game.

In addition to extensive experience with the MMO genre, I've also played Survival games (both MMO and single-player,) Management simulators, Action RPGs, and puzzle games. I am familiar with PC, all consoles, and mobile gaming platforms. I am also knowledgeable about computer hardware, and have built several computers over the years.

I'm not just a gamer though, I also bake bread, tend an extensive succulent and orchid collection, and am a devoted feline caregiver. I've had many hobbies and interests over time, and the knowledge gained has allowed me to write with confidence on a wide variety of subjects.
